How to play Okey: rules and scoring

  • 106 tiles
  • 2 false jokers

Goal: Arrange your tiles into sets and be the first to finish the hand.

Setup

  • Two copies of 1–13 in four colours.
  • An indicator tile is turned up; the tile one above it is this hand’s okey (joker).
  • The two false jokers (sahte okey) are played as that tile, with its number and colour.
  • The starting player gets 15 tiles, everyone else 14.

How to play

  1. On your turn, draw from the pile or take the tile the player on your left discarded, then discard one.
  2. Sets are runs of three or more in one colour, or the same number in different colours.
  3. You can also finish with seven pairs.
  4. You finish by discarding your last tile once everything else is in sets.
